Progress Festival Review

Progress Festival was held at Pinky’s Farm this past weekend, April 11-13th, and was a huge success!

Friday started off with car after car of people rolling up the driveway all day and late into the night. Intergalatic Space Kitchen was there to provide all of the hungry attendees that had just arrived with tacos, burgers, fries, and chicken wings.

Things were going really well and everyone was having a spectacular time. Pink Moon Festival performers N.A.R.P from Blacksburg, Virginia and The Deems, a jam band, both performed around early evening and put everyone into  better spirits than they were already in. About an hour of rain dampened the grounds but even this could not keep the people away! Later into the night, Toy Soldiers played a killer set of old-timey rock-n-roll that got the crowd movin’ and groovin’.

Saturday graced us all with bright sunshine and blue skies! Atoka Chase, an acoustic duo, performed around early afternoon with Maya’s amazing voice echoing throughout the festival grounds. Also, if you happened to get a Progress Festival t-shirt (there are still some available for $10), this lovely lady did the awesome design! Be sure to check out their set at Pink Moon VI.

The night progressed fantastically with The Lawsuits who were certainly crowd pleasers! I was able to get away from working the gate for a little while and catch Satellite Hearts performing a great Pink Floyd cover.

Meanwhile, M.H. and His Orchestra were practicing in the farmhouse kitchen for a little while before their set. Prior to Saturday night, I had not seen this group perform after dark and I must say that it was quite a show! This group is so animated and they really know how to get a crowd on their feet. Also, be sure to catch their performance at Pink Moon this year. The festival began to wind down and everyone dispersed for some rest before heading off of the farm in the morning.
